It's important in life to give back what you can."Dr. Ravelo is new to Mountain State Oral & Facial Surgery and the Charleston area - he comes to us from Miami, Florida, where he practiced oral surgery at the Oral Facial Reconstruction and Implant Center of South Florida. Dr. Ravelo grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, the son of a prominent oral surgeon, and is trained in the full spectrum of the oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty. He has extensive experience in facial trauma surgery, tumor and reconstructive surgery, tissue engineering, growth factors, corrective jaw surgery, dental implantology, management of impacted wisdom teeth, and advanced ambulatory anesthesia techniques. The doctor has spent many rewarding years volunteering his time to treat young children with cleft lip and palate disorders and is a member of several national professional organizations. He speaks Spanish fluently. Dr. Ravelo would like his Mountain State Oral & Facial Surgery patients to know that he is thrilled to join the practice, and his priority is, as always, to offer his patients compassionate care that goes beyond their expectations. Education and residencyDr. Ravelo received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2003 from the Universidad Santa María (University of Santa María) in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2008, he completed his first oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a special focus on cleft lip and palate management. In addition, he completed a second specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2016. While there, Dr. Ravelo served as Chief Resident and had the privilege of studying under the world-renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Robert Marx, who has pioneered many of the cutting-edge techniques used by oral and maxillofacial surgeons today.
